Well, I assume most (if not all) of us have seen the youtube video of Obama's defense strategy.....uh, err......or lack thereof.

The American Thinker has a great article from Ed Lasky that is worth a read.

Dude, where'd you get all the free-time? I'd have to call in sick to respond to all this! :)

This is the second time I've seen this today and I'm still wondering why anybody cares.

There is nothing new in this video. There is nothing shocking in this video. You can pretend that it's Obama wanting to dismantle the country and hand it over to the terrorists just like you can deflect criticism by calling someone sexist for asking a question about a woman.

It's a tried and true tactic. Scare people into voting against someone. Just like Lyndon Johnson's flower-girl, mushroom -cloud campaign ad, conservative pundits want you to think that a vote for Obama is a vote for terrorists. Don't be a fool. No matter what President we have, terrorists will still want to kill us. Both presidents want to keep us safe. Anyone who tells you different is either a fool or trying to make you one.

We have made a business out of war. Even Eisenhower saw this time coming.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

It's about time someone start talking about spending less money or bombs and more on more important things like education. How much of GW's policies and trillions of dollars have made us actually safer? Does every war machine we create ensure more peace? Is every bomb we produce yet another guarantee that our children will be safe for generations? No.

Peace isn't a regular talking-point. Hoping for a world with less weapons doesn't get the military-industrial complex all revved up. So I have to wonder, why is the answer to all the world's problems just a bigger, faster, smarter bomb? Why is the way to peace only through a greater dedication to war?

It isn't. We need to step back. We need to start. Every bomb we build, every horrendous and nightmare weapon we make will end up in the hands of our enemies in the coming years. Just look, the ultimate weapon we created to hold the world in check is now the very threat that hangs over our heads as the ultimate nightmare.

When we make war a profitable venture we are creating an even more terrifying world for our children. Who wants to shame Barack Obama for wanting to change that?

Hi Josh...its Sueann. I just got invited to jump into this by James. I sent the video relating to "disarming America". I have one question...how well have the "peace talks" worked in Darfur??? Apparently peace talks aren't too successful with Arab countries. And...since when is it a good idea to broadcast that we are halting production of weapons...to our enemies??? Not wise if you ask me.

And...the lack of experience by Palin...how about Obama...elected into office in 2005 as a senator. How about the shady associations like William (Bill) Ayers where he launched his campaign... I know, I know, "not a friend...friendly with someone in my neighborhood"...but is it wise to be so friendly that you begin your presidential campaign with someone who when asked on September 11th how he felt about his days as a terrorist, "I don't feel like we did enough." A man who is also quoted as saying "guilty as hell, free as a bird. America. What a great country." That doesn't seem like a wise move and would have been political suicide for a republican.

Is there anything that worries you about Obama? I am not all that thrilled about McCain, which I can admit. I don't think Obama is a terrorist...I do worry a great deal about our national security when it, or the declaration of a lack of it, is broadcast for anyone and everyone to read. I am just grateful to live out here by the base!

By the way, it is fun to read through these. I didn't read through all of them. Sorry if I repeated what others have said, I just skimmed a little bit and replied. It is my birthday and we are getting ready to go to a Taste of Home show. By we, I mean my mom, sister-in-law and me...Christian would not have been a willing participant! Also, he is doing well and has started to study for his series of 7 ARE tests to become a licensed architect. This is one long process!!! I am sure he will want to jump into this blog, too. It is fun! We need to have a family blog...but I need to find out how to make it private...all that out for everyone to see makes me nervous...even though everyone and their mother does it! Facebook was a stretch for me!!! I talked to Tara earlier and it sounds like all is well with you guys. We miss you. When will you be in town again??? Christmas??? I hope!!! Christian has quite a bit of time off and we could spend some quality time together! By then all this political debating will be...well, if not over, then maybe a little calmer. Anyway, we really miss you guys!!!

Before all of my nasty, egotistical, sarcastic responses, I wanted to say congrats to you. A kid couldn't ask for better parents than you and Kitch.

As for Obama. All right. I give in. You convinced me. Obama will destroy America and our children will die horrible, suffering deaths if this man gets into office.

    "Bomb-bomb-bomb, bomb-bomb Iran."
    John McCain.

    Is that better? Uh, NO!

SueAnn, you made a lot of points and I am supposed to be working so my responses will be short. :)

"How well have the "peace talks" worked in Darfur???"

You're right. We should invade and install a better government. That always works.

"since when is it a good idea to broadcast that we are halting production of weapons...to our enemies"

Not a new concept. The current administration has a nifty little graphic that illustrates how much we feel threatened by terrorists on any given day. The Bush administration just announced it's plans to withdraw 8,000 troops from Iraq by February in spite of claiming that such action would incite terrorists. The 28-or-so disarmament treaties our country has signed since 1899 were bold announcements to the rest of the world that we were dismantling certain weapons including nuclear, chemical, biological land-based and even space-based weapons. And we're still here.

    "Palin's experience"
I'd answer that but I'm afraid that James would yell at me for beating a dead horse with the amount of cyberspace we've dedicated to that on this blog. Besides, he's too busy trying to convince the internets that Obama is a flip-flopper. I'll just say that I value judgment and wisdom over years spent in office.

"How about the shady associations like William (Bill) Ayers"
John McCain and Sarah Palin have their own fair share of ugly associations. I fear it is a product of our political system. But, Ayers is just an association. John McCain received $112,000 in contributions from the guy who caused the last economic collapse in our country. They went on trips to the Bahamas and had investments together. Even the Senate Ethics Committee said he had 'poor judgment'. He has associates that sponsored terrorism in South America, Carl H. Lindner Jr. How about Pastor Hagee, the White Supremicist Richard Quinn who advised McCain on his last campaign. It goes on and on...

"Is there anything that worries you about Obama?"
    All politicians worry me.
(Except your father-in-law.) I worry he won't live up to his promises. I worry he'll be just another politician. Do I worry I will become forever disenchanted with our political system? Yuppers. Do I worry he will make our country unsafe? Not one bit.

    Christmas???
I wish. We're not going to be out there for the holidays and we're kinda bummed about it. Maybe the beginning of the year, though.

"Star Wars alone helped Russia spend it's way out of communism"
    Snort, chuckle.

Star Wars destroyed the USSR = myth.

Here's what Alexandr Yakovlev (the godfather of glasnost) had to say about it:

It played no role. None. I can tell you that with the fullest responsibility. Gorbachev and I were ready for changes in our policy regardless of whether the American president was Reagan, or Kennedy, or someone even more liberal.

We'd love to think that the Gipper caused freedom to spread to all those poor, russkies but 'taint so. He's just the guy who was in office when the Union imploded. He's the guy who stood on the sidewalk, witnessed the accident and took the credit for being the hero.

I think there are some key things you just aren't clued in on Josh. It isn't that a faster bomb is an answer to peace, or the sole thing that will protect "our children for future generations." I think of it this way. You would never go into a presentation unprepared to discuss the topic you are there for. If you are making a presentation to a board of directors about increased profitability and how to do that, you are going to have done your research and know the key points in growing profit. You most likely will get what it is you are there for. You were prepared for what ever that board would have thrown at you. Not because "the military-industrial complex is all revved up," but because they didn't dare challenge you because you could defend your point.

Just remember the old Boy Scout Motto: Be Prepared. As soon as the left wing liberal so-called intellectuals get a hold of the White House (heaven forbid) we will become more vulnerable to the winds of an ever blowing international community that wants us to conform to them. Our country is great because we have been non-conformists. Remember the Revolutionary War?

P.S. Dude, I always have a lot of free-time! Just kiddin' dude.....no, I just save thoughts/links onto a Word document for when I have time to post, ya know?

Today I completed my first implant.....it looked pretty good. Kinda exciting, eh?.....well, maybe not--I'm happy, nonetheless.

Derrick....I always thought being prepared was important as well....especially how scary the world is right now.

I think I might cross-stitch that and hang it on our mantle. I would like to remember it forever, as the moment I finally became 'clued-in'. Just so you know, I will use this quote against you. I don't know how, I don't know when. But I will remember it.

"Our country is great because we have been non-conformists. Remember the Revolutionary War?"

Nope. I don't remember it. But I bet John McCain does because he was there!
