From Good to Great

I have just recently started reading the book Good to Great authored by Jim Collins. The opening paragraph states, "We don't have great schools, principally because we have good schools. We don't have great government, principally because we have good government. Few people attain great lives, in large part because it is just so easy to settle for a good life." Me thinks we would all concur with the idea that we really haven't had any good government. I think we would all also agree that whatever it would take to make government great, we would embrace it. (Stay with me Josh...) Please look at the history of good to great of Mit Romney. Capital venturist took 11 companies nearly in bankruptcy, (our national debt is now trillions) to exceptionally profitable powerhouses. The 2002 Olympics was laced with bribery scandel, in debt, and behind construction schedule. (Scooter Libby and Abramoff, Iraq, and New Orleans). The Olympics were amazing. He cleaned up the scandel, was the first to turn an olympics profitable in nearly 75 years, and had every venue ready to go ahead of the olympic deadline. There is zero doubt that Mit Romney took not good cirumstances and turned them into great ones. What makes us think his presidency would be any different? Will it be scary to have a Mormon president? I think it will be. I will be on pins and needles every day hoping that the month Mit paid 9% instead of 10% when he was 18 doesn't creep up on him. This guy is as clean as a whistle. Could I be wrong, yes. But prove me otherwise. No one can debate that he is the most moral, and straight laced candidate we have right now. No way Guliani is. There is just something wierd about moving in with a single man and living with him for over two years, then sending divorce papers to his wife. I see a scandel brewing. We are at a turning point in American politics. Never before has there been such a diverse field of candidates. A woman, an african american, and a Mormon. Let the fun begin...

I'm not buying it. Clean as a whistle is balony in politics. He is a waffling politician just like the rest of them and will not be able to come in on a white horse and reform the country because of the nature of our system.

I for one don't want my religion to become the central issue of a presidential debate, which it will, judging by how things have gone so far. If we think some people in this country aren't ready for a black president, at least people don't proselytise against them.

The amount of videos circulating the net about the dangers of Mormonism and Mit is just scary. Like this one:

There are just way too many idiots in this country for Mit to be taken seriously. No thanks, I'd rather not have my religion be the butt of jokes on the Late Show for the next four years and would rather just choose different flip-flopping candidate.

He's just as bad as the rest, only he would be a target closer to my heart.

This is interesting. I don't even think I'll be that hurt if Romney doesn't win the primary election.........in the back of my mind I know his aspirations are wishful thinking. But I have the impression, Josh, that you are not that well-informed regarding Romney.

Waffling? Did he waffle Massachusetts' 2 billion dollar deficit away? Did he waffle the health insurance plan into being?

Bad as the rest? Maybe you get this idea from the fruit of his labors? He does have an insincere and superficial wife--not to mention his unruly children.

Flip-flopper? Now if he changed back to being pro-choice you could call him a flip-flopper. He has been open and honest with his conversions unlike many other politicians who don't think their voting records will come to light.

Clean as a whistle is balogne politics.......but I'm willing to bet Stake President Romney had and still has a temple recommend.

I understand your prejudice against all politicians, but every now and then a Lincoln or Roosevelt pops up........so, have the audacity to hope.

    Hey Josh,

Yeah, I watched the youtube thing you posted a long time ago. As creepy as it was, the majority of people (mormons and nonmormons alike) will see the blatant prejudice and bigotry portrayed (even though they tried to sound rational at the beginning it got insane towards the end). The people who made the film look more fanatical to me than the Mormons they're talking about.
